Cherry Blossom: Prunus subg. Cerasus There are a number of different Prunus species that are considered ornamental cherry blossom trees and endless cultivars of those species. All are prized for their large, attractive pink or white blossoms that appear before the tree begins to grow its new leaves in the spring. Also known as Sakura, they can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, but are particularly culturally relevant in Japan, where they are the national flower.
Cherry Blossom is a mid-toned, bright and very warm pink shade, which might be described as a watermelon pink. It is warmer than a rose pink, but cooler than a salmon or coral shade. It has a matte finish.
