Cliodhna, a mysterious ancient Celtic goddess, is a Goddess of Love to some, and closely associated with the fairy Folk to others. According the scholars, she may have initially been a goddess of the sovereignty, of chiefly power, among bronze and iron age Celts of Ireland. By historic periods, she had become the Goddess of love and Beauty and patron of County Cork in Ireland. She was the ruler of the Banshees, the fairy women who foretold death to great families. She was said to travel with three birds who consumed the fruit of a magical tree, and her song could cure disease. She is said to have told the builder of Castle Blarney to kiss the first stone on his way to court one morning in order to win his court case; this stone became the famous Blarney Stone, which is ow said to impart the ability to deceive without causing offense. Beyond modern legends based on Medieval folktales, little is known of Cliodhna and her original patronage. And for those of you wondering, her name is pronounced "Clee-na!"

Cliodhna's shade is a powerful, deep plum purple, with strong red undertones. It is a shade of sovereignty, akin to the royal purple that edged the togas of Roman emperors and the robes of European kings. Purple is also a shade associated with escape to other realms, to fantasy and to the fairy folk, making this deep plum an apt shade for the Queen of the Banshees.

This is a matte, loose blush in a bold plum shade. Moderately pigmented, but still sheer to allow natural beauty to shine through. This is a buildable pigment.
